Unless you intend to breed, the health benefits of neutering are compelling. Neutering will not be covered by your pet insurance policy.

The health benefits include reduced likelihood of various cancers, less aggression and tendency to roam. The operation can be carried out from six months old. In the male, the testicles are removed  - full recovery takes around 10 days. The female operation, known as Spaying, is more invasive and removes the uterus and ovaries. Again, full recovery takes around 10 days.
