If you take the time to understand him you'll
get along better. If he could talk he'd ask for a good quality pet insurance
policy.
- Do get him neutered unless you intend to
breed.
- Do play with him and provide toys to stop him
getting bored.
- Do watch what he eats, if he's getting heavy
cut back.
- Do stick to the rules, your dog will not cope well if you change the boundaries.
- Don't over exercise young dogs, even when
they are fully mature ask your vet for a recommended exercise regime.
Don't chastise him every time he barks,
sometimes it's just his way of saying hello. Barking is only a problem if it is
persistent.
- Don't get hung up on all his bad habits -
he'll grow out of most of them. If he doesn't, just go back to basic training.
- Don't put up with biting, get specialist
advice from your vet if this becomes a problem
