| Kitten – 10 key facts |
Visit your vet regularly for preventative treatments such as flea and worming. Don't forget most pet insurance policies will not cover routine and preventative treatments.

Body language
A raised
tail is the sign of a happy kitten. The best signal of all is purring, while
fur standing on end is a defensive posture and not good news.
Growing
The average kitten weighs in at around 70-135g, but will grow to 400-900g in seven
weeks. At 18 months a cat should reach between 4-5kg.
The average lifetime of a cat is 13-14 years, but some can live to 17 years and beyond - so prepare for a long-term relationship.
Eyes
Cat's are great at night, with good vision in dim light and excellent wide angle
lenses that allow them to spot prey.
Taste
Kitten's
can be fussy eaters with a strong sense of taste.
Nose
With a
well-developed sense of smell, kittens are constantly intrigued by new scents.
Sex
Un-neutered
male cats can wander and get into fights, whereas there is very little
difference in behaviour between a neutered male and neutered female.
Ears
A
kitten's hearing is very sensitive and can hear sounds inaudible to the human
ear. Some cats can be trained to respond to certain words.
